The prospect of a long journey in France is always something I relish & we have collated a map that offers anyone heading on a road trip in France an alternative to motorway service stations.  The map brings together wonderful food-related stories and fond memories from our clients and colleagues, as well as some of our own recommendations.

The map features restaurants, bistros, swim spots, lovely places for a picnic, as well as places that are simply near the motorway and a great place to take a break and have a leg-stretch. The map will be launched early next year.  It will be continually updated and members of the community will be able to offer feedback so that, hopefully, the map will be an enjoyable and reliable resource.

If you are a non-EU passport holder and thinking of a change of lifestyle that would involve a stretch of more than three months in France, you will need to apply for a visa. We can also help with other administrative related tasks such as health insurance, tax returns, establishing a micro-enterprise or registering a vehicle.

If you need help with any of the above, do get in touch.

If you are considering a move from the US to Europe then France is often pretty high on the list of possible destinations.  France has it all:  a relaxed pace of life, a warm climate, wonderful scenery and, of course, fantastic food and wine.  When people realise that property tends to be at least 50% cheaper than in the US then it prompts the question, what's the catch?  Well, quite simply, there isn't one.

La Résidence Alpine specialises in areas of the french Alps that are leading the way in creating a buzz in the mountains year round. We focus on the towns and villages where there is not only great skiing in the winter, but also a drive to attract the increasing numbers of summer visitors.

As the era of cheap airfares has past and air travel feels ever more like a rather demoralising ‘herding’ process, many people are looking for an altogether more civilised, relaxing and greener way to travel across the continent. Ever since the pandemic, rail travel has been growing in popularity and some major changes in the international train network are coming in 2026. Might the long awaiting ‘wine train’ finally be on the horizon?
