This ‘picture-postcard’ Normandy cottage comes with a large barn, outbuilding, bread oven and about an acre of land. The property is in a rural hamlet but within very easy reach of shops and services. The popular medieval town of Domfront is a 12min drive. The property is being sold fully furnished.
The owners bought the property in 1987 and it’s been a much-loved family holiday home ever since. Over the years the owners have carried a good deal of renovation work including a fully insulated new roof.
On the ground floor there is a farmhouse kitchen, with beautiful tiled floor, exposed beams and original fireplace. Sitting within the fireplace is a large wood-burning ‘cusinière’. The living room is comfortable and cosy and also has a large wood-burning stove. There is a ground floor bathroom, with walk-in shower. Beneath the living room is a cellar which the current owners use a utility room.
On the first floor are the three bedrooms and a second bathroom (photos to follow) as well as a good amount of storage space.
Drainage is to a septic tank. There is mains water and electricity and bottled gas (for cooking).
Outside there is approximately one acre of pretty gardens, most of which is lawned. There is plenty of parking in the large courtyard area outside the house. The large barn, directly opposite the house, is in good order. The current owners use it mainly for storage but it also makes a great party venue! The barn was re-roofed about 10 years ago and could be converted into extra accommodation, subject to planning etc.
There is also a smaller outbuilding and original bread oven.
The property is located in a small hamlet, surrounded by lovely countryside. It offers the perfect rural retreat without being isolated. The village of Céaucé is 5mins by car. Here you’ll find basic shops, including a very good boulangerie. The medieval town of Domfront is a short drive and here you’ll find an excellent weekly market, restaurants, a good selection of shops and supermarkets.
