‘Le Monastere’ was converted into a series of cottages and apartments in 2004. The conversion has kept much of the original character of the ancient building, whilst introducing a bit of contemporary luxury. The medieval town of Vouvant is literally on the doorstep. The town has a good selection of shops, restaurants and an excellent weekly market. Vouvant is officially classified by the French government as one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Many outdoor sports are available locally including tennis, golf, horse riding, boating, walking, kayaking, cycling and paragliding. Thanks to the effects of the Gulf Stream, the region enjoys the highest number of sunshine hours on the Atlantic coast and that, coupled with its glorious sandy beaches, makes it the perfect holiday destination.
