This delightful 2-bed cottage sits within a converted Monastery, in the centre of the delightful market town of Vouvant. There is a large communal pool and 6 acres of private riverside grounds. The shops and restaurants in Vouvant are a few minutes walk.
‘Le Monastere’ was converted into a series of cottages and apartments in 2004. The conversion has kept much of the original character of the ancient building, whilst introducing a bit of contemporary luxury. The complex has an excellent reputation locally and properties here don’t come up for sale very often.
This cottage forms a terrace of 3 and has a lovely view of the courtyard and pool area. The ground floor is open plan. The living room has the original fireplace and wood-burner and the modern fitted kitchen comes with an integrated dishwasher, microwave, cooking hobs and oven.
On the first floor are the 2 bedrooms. The main bedroom has a fitted wardrobe and Juliette balcony (overlooking the pool). The second bedroom currently has a single bed. The family bathroom has a bath, shower, WC and basin.
The communal pool (heated) and large riverside gardens are immaculately maintained, making this is the perfect ‘lock and leave’ holiday home. There is an annual service charge of just over 2K Euros which covers all the maintenance.
The medieval town of Vouvant is literally on the doorstep. The town has a good selection of shops, restaurants and an excellent weekly market. Vouvant is officially classified by the French government as one of the most beautiful villages in France.
Many outdoor sports are available locally including tennis, golf, horse riding, boating, walking, kayaking, cycling and paragliding. Thanks to the effects of the Gulf Stream, the region enjoys the highest number of sunshine hours on the Atlantic coast and that, coupled with its glorious sandy beaches, makes it the perfect holiday destination.
