You might be reminded of Venice when you see the location of this stunning riverside property.  It is right in the centre of the historical town of Nérac, in the south-west of France, within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the best Saturday market in the region.  

The fortified medieval town of Nérac has a population of about 7000 inhabitants.  It sits on the banks of the River Baise and is bursting with charm.  The historic quarter has half timbered houses, a Gothic bridge, a 16thC chateau and traditional boat trips departing from Nérac harbour master’s office.  There are a number of ways to reach the region from the UK, by air to Toulouse, Bergerac or Bordeaux, by Eurostar to Agen and of course by private car, on the ferry or via Eurotunnel.

This is essentially a quiet, rural area, characterised by fields of sunflowers, vineyards and corn.  It has sometimes been referred to as “little Tuscany” and is famous for the production of Armagnac.  Both the towns of Condom and Agen (20 minutes & 30 minutes drive respectively) are worth regular visits.
