We all know that no matter where you are in the world, hiring a car at the airport is both an eye-wateringly expensive AND incredibly stressful experience. Once you get to the front of the painfully slow queue at the hire-car desk, it is almost inevitable that the car you’ve ordered is not there and your only option is to upgrade at additional expense or squeeze into a tin can. Then, your next job is to try to leave the airport complex, navigating the busy main roads, working out which roundabout exit to take while trying to remember to keep right. All a little stressful!
There is another, rather more civilised, option. It is well worth checking out the big-brand french supermarkets for cheap car hire in France. Leclerc, Super U and Carrefour all offer car hire locations across France. Which one you go for may depend on which airport you’re flying into. If you need to hire a car in France with extras such as children’s car seats etc, these are also significantly cheaper and easier to organise at supermarket rental locations than at airports.
If you are just starting to think it might be the right time to start considering a base in France, property in France is generally around 50% cheaper than in the UK. Space is much less of an issue in France and beautiful homes with lovely gardens and no near neighbours are more attainable and affordable.
At La Résidence, we specialise in cherry-picking character properties on that market that have a certain je ne sais quoi. If you’d like to take a look at our portfolio of properties, simply click here.
